A six‑year‑old boy from Maryland was found lifeless inside the Times Square Hampton Inn early Tuesday, according to police and other officials. He suddenly fell seriously ill while the family was touring New York, and responders arrived at the hotel at about 9:40 a.m. to discover the child unconscious and unresponsive.
His parents told authorities that the boy had been feeling unwell and vomiting the night before, as they were traveling during the height of the holiday rush.
The child was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where doctors declared him deceased. No visible injuries were noted on his body, the police said. A medical examiner from the city will soon release an official statement about the cause of death.
The New York Post received additional information from reporter Ella Morrison.
