Officials disclosed that a suspected human‑smuggling network—housing more than a dozen people—has been uncovered inside a Texas home.
Agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Laredo Border Patrol carried out a raid on a house in Laredo on Tuesday, Dec. 17, as noted in a social‑media update.
During the operation, they discovered 17 people who were living in the United States without legal status. One of those found was later taken into custody and charged with human smuggling; authorities called him a “suspected caretaker.”
A photo posted by the Laredo Border Patrol shows about ten individuals, most with their faces hidden, seated on the kitchen floor. The identities of the 17 illegal migrants and the alleged caretaker remain undisclosed.
In an online announcement, the Laredo Border Patrol celebrated the arrest, captioning the post “Operation Success!”
This bust comes just days after another alleged smuggling scheme was uncovered in the same town.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), two U.S. citizens were arrested on Dec. 8 for allegedly bringing four illegal aliens into their Laredo home. Among those detained were two Guatemalans, one Mexican national, and one Honduran. The two American suspects now face federal smuggling charges. In a CBP social‑media post, they warned: “Illegaly entry leads to deportation,” “Don’t risk it.”
CBP’s latest data show that Laredo logged 4,400 land‑border encounters in the 2025 fiscal year, while the broader southwest Texas region recorded 103,124 such encounters during the same period.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
