A cat owner says an Amazon delivery driver took her pet during a routine drop‑off.
According to Diane Huff‑Medina, the driver left a package for her in Lakewood, California, only to grab the cat, Piper, in the same visit.
Video footage shows the supposed “porch pirate” in an Amazon‑branded vest hand‑ing over a parcel, then moments later clutching the feline by the scruff.
Huff‑Medina, who watched the clip in low light, said she had to pause it several times. “I saw that little tail, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God.’ I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” she told ABC7.
She reports that Amazon has identified the employee but hasn’t yet made contact. She also approached the Lakewood Sheriff’s Department, only to learn that processing a case could take weeks.
The Post tried to get comments from Amazon, the sheriff’s office, and Huff‑Medina, but did not receive a response.
This is not the first allegation of theft by an Amazon driver. In March, a different driver was accused of taking a package almost immediately after delivering it near Florida.
The new “Porch Pirates Act,” introduced by Congress this month, would subject such thieves to harsher penalties, including longer prison terms, mirroring those imposed on postal service package thieves.
