During Thanksgiving Eve, a series of shootings tore through three boroughs, leaving seven people wounded over a four‑hour stretch, officials reported.
The first burst of violence began at around 7:20 p.m. on Fulton and Jay Streets in downtown Brooklyn. Two 18‑year‑olds were hit: the man suffered a blast to his left leg and a graze on his left elbow, while the woman was shot in her right leg. Both were taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
By 9:40 p.m., the gunfire moved to the Bronx. Two men, ages 22 and 23, were struck on Ryer Avenue near the Grand Concourse in Fordham Heights. The older victim was hit in the left foot, the younger in the right thigh. They were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and are also reported as stable.
At about 11:15 p.m. a 24‑year‑old man in Queens was grazed on the head by two masked assailants on 30th Drive near Vernon Boulevard in Astoria. The shooting, which involved at least one shooter, had the victim taken privately to Mount Sinai Queens, where he remains stable. The suspects fled in a black Jeep, per authorities.
Only minutes later, a gunfight erupted inside the Yaya Deli Grocery on Melrose Avenue near East 160th Street in the Melrose section of the Bronx. A 22‑year‑old man was shot in the shoulder and a 25‑year‑old woman sustained a torso wound. Both were rushed to Lincoln Medical Center and are listed as stable.
No arrests have been announced for any of the incidents, and investigators are still probing the motives behind the Mayhem.
