Neighbors heard screams from SF woman beaten to death by homeless man

Neighbors in the Ingleside neighborhood heard Jessica Sanchez Landaverde’s screams on the morning of November 23, but no one dialed 911 for several hours. The new court filings say a sadistic intruder entered the San Francisco house, strangled her to death, and abandoned her in a pool of blood that morning. The prosecutors released a chilling timeline just before the arraignment of Cassidy Wyatt Allen—who is 45, homeless, and already out on a deferred‑judgment deal for a prior assault.

The police record shows the first sign of trouble at about 6:10 a.m. Video caught a man, presumed to be Allen, slipping in through a window. Roughly twenty minutes later, around 6:30 a.m., the house was reverberating with banging and shouting, and a man was seen opening the front door from inside. The noise was so intense it could have been mistaken for an earthquake, yet help still didn’t arrive until it was too late.

About nine hours later, around 3 p.m., a tenant whose name is not disclosed returned to the Granada Avenue residence. She unlocked the front door, only to hear a stranger rush toward her and slam the door shut on the inside. She fled to her car and waited for the police, which came shortly after the intruder had vanished.

When the officers finally got to the scene, they found a broken front‑door window and tipped‑over blinds. Inside, they discovered Jessica Sanchez Landaverde’s body propped on her back at the foot of the bed, dripping with her own blood. Witnesses described how she had been brutal beaten and strangled; a medical examiner later noted broken jaw and ligature marks on her neck.

Allen was arrested that same night, around 11 p.m., when officers found him lying on a sidewalk about a mile and a half from the crime scene. Court documents point out a bite‑like mark on his right hand.

Throughout his 25‑year criminal history, Allen has been charged with robbery, vandalism, theft, and drug paraphernalia possession. Just two months earlier, he pleaded no‑contest to grand theft and assault with force likely to cause serious injury in a separate case.

On Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty to a home‑breakdown charge and the special‑circumstance allegation that the murder occurred during that burglary. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment. He remains in police custody and is currently denied bail.
