Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh showered praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday for rolling out major GST reforms, calling them a huge pre-Diwali gift that benefits everyone in society.
Talking to in Mainpuri, Singh said, “Before Diwali, Prime Minister Modi gave a big gift by cutting GST rates. People from every walk of life are thrilled.” He added that these steps will help India become the world’s guru and a developed nation, or Viksit Bharat, by building on the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and the Swadeshi movement.
Earlier that day, BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan echoed the excitement, highlighting how the next-gen GST reforms, paired with Modi’s focus on self-reliance and Swadeshi, are driving India toward becoming a developed country by 2047. “MODI stands for Mission of Developed India,” Kesavan told . He shared stories from Puducherry, where locals are cheering the changes. “We’ve met people there, and families are overjoyed with Prime Minister Modi’s game-changing GST reforms.”
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) updates, greenlit by the Union Cabinet on September 4 and kicking in on September 22, mark the start of GST 2.0. This new setup simplifies taxes with key slabs at 5% and 18%, plus a 40% compensation cess on luxury and sin goods. Experts say it will cut red tape for businesses, lower prices for shoppers, and supercharge manufacturing across sectors like agriculture, automobiles, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and renewable energy.
The goal? Slash living costs, empower small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), expand the tax net, and fuel growth that leaves no one behind.
Already, big players in FMCG and dairy are passing on the savings. Brands like Amul and Mother Dairy announced sharp price drops, making everyday items more affordable for families nationwide. These GST reforms are sparking real change, boosting confidence in Modi’s push for a stronger, self-reliant India.
