A Texas father stepped into hero mode on Christmas Day when his 15‑year‑old daughter vanished after a walk with her dog. The family lives in Porter, about 25 miles north of Houston, and the boy’s mother, who was also on a walk, did not return home at the usual time.
Deputy and detective work began as soon as the father rang the police. He then opened the parental‑control settings on the teen’s phone and used the device’s GPS to track her location. The cell phone led him to a secluded, partially wooded spot just under two miles from their home. Inside a maroon pickup truck he found his daughter, her pup, and a 23‑year‑old man holding a knife.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect – who threatened the teenager with a blade – had already taken her from the street the previous night. “Christmas is a day meant for joy, but this man chose to shatter that joy by targeting a child,” Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said in a statement.
The father helped his daughter flee the truck, and the police quickly apprehended the suspect on the scene. Giovanni Rosales Espinoza, 23, was charged with aggravated kidnapping and indecency with a child. He is being held without bond at Montgomery County Jail.
Sheriff Doolittle praised the deputies and detectives: “I am incredibly proud of our deputies and detectives who worked tirelessly to ensure this dangerous predator was swiftly apprehended and is now off our streets. Rest assured that your Sheriff’s Office remains vigilant every hour of every day to keep your families safe.”
