Jimmy Kimmel has made no secret of his strong feelings about President Trump. For the past year, the late-night host has spent almost every episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” firing off lengthy rants against Trump and his supporters. In fact, our deep dive into his monologues shows it’s been a non-stop Trump takedown.
Over the last 12 months, Kimmel’s opening segments have repeatedly zeroed in on Trump. He’s cracked jokes about Trump’s marriage to Melania, poked fun at flag pole mishaps with “erection denier” punchlines, and even called Trump fans “MAGA mouth-breathers.” It’s clear the comedian isn’t holding back when it comes to Trump criticism.
Since Kimmel returned from summer break on September 2, he’s dedicated nearly 90 minutes across nine episodes to slamming Trump. Things hit a low point when he falsely linked Charlie Kirk’s assassin to MAGA supporters. That controversial claim got him pulled off air by ABC on Wednesday night.
On September 10—the same day Kirk, a prominent free speech advocate, was shot dead in Utah—Kimmel aired footage from anti-Israel protesters in Washington, DC. The crowd chanted things like “Free DC! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!” right on ABC, just hours after the tragedy. The show tapes at 4:30 p.m. PT, about five hours after the shooting.
In that same monologue, Kimmel accused Trump of turning Washington into a “militarized zone” and labeled him a “34-time convicted felon.” He also said Trump had “grifted” $3 billion since winning the election, citing Forbes. But Forbes’ Billionaires List doesn’t back up any claims of illegal gains—it’s just a rundown of net worth.
The next night, Kimmel briefly touched on Kirk’s death, saying it “amplified our anger and differences,” before diving back into Trump bashing. He called Trump “divisive,” referencing old quotes where Trump suggested Second Amendment supporters could deal with Hillary Clinton or that shooting the “fake news media” wouldn’t bother him.
Kimmel’s recent monologue titles say it all: “MAGA Mouth-Breathers Mad About Cracker Barrel,” “Trump Threatens Chicago,” and “‘Trump Letter’ in Epstein Birthday Book Causes MAGA Freakout.” In one bit, he even played a fake Gavin Newsom who joked about Donald Trump Jr. getting “sloppy seconds” from ex Kimberly Guilfoyle, now Greece’s ambassador.
Out of the past year’s shows, only about five monologues strayed from Trump topics. The latest non-Trump one came on December 11, with fun updates on Luigi Mangione, whom Kimmel quipped America had “thirsted” after.
Kimmel’s relentless anti-Trump monologues have sparked plenty of debate. As late-night TV evolves, fans and critics alike are watching how this plays out in the world of comedy and politics.
