On Tuesday, body‑cam footage was released that shows an Altoona police officer walking up to Luigi Mangione inside a McDonald’s and asking him to remove his face mask. The 27‑year‑old, who is accused of shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, complied but then told the officer his name was Mark Rosario. The clip was shared as part of the Manhattan District Attorney’s review in the case.
When the officer said, “Someone called, they thought you were suspicious,” Mangione responded, “Oh, I’m sorry.”
The video was made public on the fifth day of a pre‑trial hearing about whether evidence gathered by Altoona police can be used at trial, and it falls on the one‑year anniversary of Mangione’s arrest. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
