New evidence of a profanity‑laden outburst by Rep. Nancy Mace at Charleston’s airport has thrown fresh heat into the South Carolina governor race and fueled a bitter exchange between the congresswoman and her Republican rival. The fight broke out when state AG Alan Wilson slammed Mace as a “spoiled brat” who treats cops like “servants,” all while both are scrambling for voter support—and President Trump’s endorsement.
According to an investigative report from the Charleston Airport Authority, police and TSA agents said Mace used harsh language while demanding expedited security for her flight on Oct. 30. The incident followed a failed VIP escort, and the probe also uncovered a similar episode in April when agents denied her family member passage through the same expedited lane. Report statements quote Mace as declaring, “This is the only airport that gives me s–t,” and “I’m sick of your s–t, I’m tired of having to wait.” Law enforcement officers described her as “very nasty, very rude” and heard her call the officers “f–king idiots” and “f–king incompetent.”
Despite earlier threatening to sue the airport, Mace has not filed suit. She has defended herself as a target of credible death threats, noting that a judge recently bailed‑denied a man charged with making online threats. In a CNN interview, the congresswoman called the new report “falsified” and responded to Wilson’s criticism with, “Imagine being ‘Attorney General’ and flying 500 miles for the sole purpose of dismissing death threats against a single mom.”
Wilson, who has been urging local sheriffs to back him, accused Mace of behaving “like a child not getting their way” and reminded voters that airport personnel are public servants, not personal aides. Meanwhile, Mace has been taking the battle to the airwaves, critiquing House Republican leadership in a recent Washington Post op‑ed. A campaign consultant, Austin McCubbin, resigned on Dec. 1, accusing Mace of abandoning “MAGA” principles and flirting with the party’s “political cactus” in the form of Senator Rand Paul and Representative Thomas Massie.
