Greg Biffle, the celebrated NASCAR driver, sent out his final video shortly before a tragic plane accident took his life along with that of his wife, Cristina, their two children, and three close friends.
The clip, which he posted last Thursday on his YouTube channel, is titled “Surprised Wife with Date Night.” It shows the surprise Cristina felt when she discovered that the “date” was actually a casual trip to Indianapolis for the Performance Racing Industry convention, rather than a traditional romantic outing.
In the video, Cristina jokingly remarks, “So when you said we were going on a date night, I didn’t expect to go to a tradeshow,” while grinning at her husband. Biffle narrates the day as they tour racing cars, sample new tech, and mingle with pals before heading out for dinner.
He comments, “Night out on the town here in Indy,” as they leave the event. When the camera cuts back to Cristina, she gives a thumbs‑up, and Biffle adds, “Let’s do it. Little party animal over here.”
The family’s private Cessna 500 went down in flames at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina on Thursday morning, killing all seven aboard.
Among those lost were Biffle’s 14‑year‑old daughter Emma from his first marriage, 5‑year‑old son Ryder, and friends Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and Dutton’s son Jack.
They had been en route to Florida for a birthday trip, according to relatives; Biffle would have celebrated his 56th birthday that Tuesday.
Known affectionately as “Biff” by fans, he was a perennial Hall of Fame nominee and earned a spot on NASCAR’s list of its 75 greatest drivers.
Beyond racing, he was celebrated for humanitarian efforts, notably piloting his own helicopter to rescue people trapped in western North Carolina during Hurricane Helene last year.
The YouTube video garnered heartfelt comments after his death. One viewer wrote, “RIP Biffle family…thanks for video’s like this that will live on forever,” while another reflected, “The fact this was his last video with his wife… man.
Big part of my childhood.” A different fan posted, “Rest in peace buddy. You and your family made all smile. We miss you already.” The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are still investigating the cause of the crash.
