Rob Reiner’s son Nick appeared in his own bizarre YouTube video where he pretended to use drugs and joked that he “would kill a dog,” a prediction that would precede the accusations against him for murdering his parents nearly ten years later.
The 2016 amateur footage resurfaced this week when the 32‑year‑old was charged with fatally stabbing director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their Brentwood home.
In the odd clip, Nick posed as a music mogul called “Dddavid,” strolling through his upscale neighborhood as an unseen interviewer posed mockumentary‑style questions.
The video also featured Nick’s younger sister Romy, who appeared while he tried to respond to a query with a dog barking behind him.
“I’m gonna go f—king kill that f—king dog,” he declared, decked out in a red cap and shades, as a brief clip of the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out” played.
It was Romy who discovered her father, famed director Rob Reiner, stabbed to death on Sunday and immediately accused Nick.
In the decade‑old clip, Nick—who has spoken openly about drug use—was seen smoking at one moment before asking, “Where’d you get this weed?”
The footage later staged white powder on a tray to simulate drugs, with Nick mimicking the act of snorting.
Behind the camera, a voice shouted, “You bought heroin off a transvestite?” as the clip cut to Nick and another individual making their way down a street.
Nick is seen improvising to mockumentary‑style prompts while trying to engage with passersby.
He delivered a foretelling rap verse: “And I don’t even care if anyone calls me a Sally because I’m a snail and I’m never gonna f—king fail and you know, you’re gonna have to bail me outta jail.”
He remains in Los Angeles jail without bail while awaiting trial for the killing of his parents.
A family insider, speaking to People about the clip, described Nick as “always creative, but misguided.”
“He grew up among Hollywood stars and their habits, and it never dawned on him that such a lifestyle might be taken from him,” the source said.
“The toughest part for Nick was actually carrying out his plans and tackling tasks he didn’t find thrilling.”
The tragic death of Rob Reiner—known for films like “A Few Good Men” and “When Harry Met Sally”—and his wife sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry.
Their other two children, Jake and Romy Reiner, described their parents as their “best friends” and urged the public to remember them for “the extraordinary lives they led and the love they shared.”
They omitted any reference to Nick.
