A storm that threw up almost eight inches of snow across the tri‑state area sent the region’s airports into a whirlwind of delays.
At LaGuardia, a ground stop was in place, and by noon the wait time had stretched to almost six hours for passengers on the ground.
JFK ran into a similar hold; flights destined for the airport were kept at their departure hubs until conditions cleared for take‑off.
Newark, too, remained on a ground stop that pushed its delay into just over four hours, while Philadelphia’s situation was comparatively gentler, with run‑time setbacks of only a little over an hour.
The blanket of snow has not only jammed the Northeast; the ripple effect of those ground stops is now spreading delay headaches across the United States and beyond.
Passengers and crews alike are bracing for more uncertainty, as the snowstorm continues to gnaw at the region’s busy air corridors.
