Ernest Wesley Heinz, a New Jersey actor best known for modeling in the “Resident Evil” video‑game series, has been indicted on 31 criminal counts, including an upgraded charge of attempted murder. The indictment follows a September 11 road‑rage shooting that forced Stockton University to lock down its campus for three hours.
Heinz, 48, was driving through Galloway Township when a woman named Maritza Arias‑Galva attempted to merge at a red light. Witnesses say he abruptly cut her off, then stepped out of his car and threatened to kill her before firing a single shot that struck her in the face. Arias‑Galva later told the Galloway Police Department that Heinz was “white, blonde, with a ponytail” and that he left in a white Honda SUV.
The woman received medical treatment for a non‑fatal nose injury while authorities searched for the suspect. Police eventually located Heinz at a residence near the university that same afternoon. He was taken into custody and later faced a battery of charges that originally included criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault with a firearm, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
According to a grand jury indictment filed in early December, the charges were expanded to 31 counts, adding the new attempted‑murder charge. Investigators also linked some of the new counts to firearms discovered in a storage unit where Heinz allegedly stopped after the shooting. The shotgun used in the incident was a .380 caliber registered under his father’s name, and the vehicle was registered to his mother. He later retrieved two bags from a residence in Port Republic, New Jersey, that contained a rifle and other items, footage showed.
Heinz is expected to be arraigned on January 30, 2026, and will remain in custody until his trial. His acting résumé includes a brief uncredited role in “The Sopranos,” but he remains best known for his work with the “Resident Evil” franchise.
