A Missouri woman who tried to swindle Elvis Presley’s family and sell off his famous Graceland home has landed a prison sentence. Lisa Jeanine Findley, 54, from Kimberling City, got four years and nine months behind bars on Tuesday in a Memphis federal court. The judge also tacked on three years of probation after her release.
Findley pleaded guilty in February to mail fraud connected to her bold Graceland scam. Prosecutors say she faked a story about getting rights to the iconic estate from Elvis’s late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. Findley claimed Lisa Marie had used Graceland as collateral for a $3.8 million loan she never paid back before her death in January 2023.
To pull off the Elvis Presley fraud, Findley invented a persona as “Kurt Naussany” from a phony outfit called Naussany Investments and Private Lending. She forged documents with Lisa Marie’s signature and even ran a fake foreclosure notice in a Memphis newspaper. Then, she demanded $2.8 million from the Presley family to drop the claim—or she’d auction Graceland, where Elvis lived until his 1977 death from a heart attack.
The scam unraveled fast when Lisa Marie’s daughter, Riley Keough, sued and proved the loan was bogus. As investigators closed in, Findley tried to shift blame to a supposed Nigerian identity thief, sending weird emails to reporters at NBC News and others pretending to be the real crook.
This wasn’t Findley’s first rodeo in the world of scams. Court records show a history of romance cons, fake checks, and bank fraud racking up hundreds of thousands in losses. She even did federal prison time before for phony loans.
Her defense lawyer pushed for a lighter sentence, calling the Graceland plot a short-lived flop that never made her any money. Public defender Tyrone Paylor wrote in court papers that the whole thing was “doomed from the start,” quoting Marvin Gaye. Findley stayed quiet during the hearing and didn’t speak in her defense.
