Bengaluru, Dec 1 (LatestNewsX) – When reporters pressed Deputy Chief Minister and Congress state president D.K. Shivakumar about when he would invite CM Siddaramaiah to a breakfast meeting, he made it clear that the arrangement is solely between the two of them. “The breakfast is a matter between me and the Chief Minister,” he said at the Vidhana Soudha press conference. “Siddaramaiah and I work together like brothers, so there is no such thing as my group or Siddaramaiah’s group.” He also mentioned that the meeting was called in response to media scrutiny and that allegations of factional camps were unfounded.
Shivakumar continued, “The media keeps insisting that separate factions exist under the CM, myself as Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister G. Parameshwara and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. That is simply not true. The breakfast at the CM’s residence is just between us.” He added that all 140 MLAs stand with him, and that while individuals may act independently, the party unites under a common purpose, so the press has no need to be alarmed.
In Delhi, BJP MLA and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Arvind Bellad weighed in on the same topic. “Whoever becomes CM, Karnataka won’t benefit.” He accused the state administration of collapse and widespread corruption, insisting that the decision of selecting a Chief Minister ultimately lies with the party’s high command and that a change is inevitable. Bellad singled out Siddaramaiah, saying he claims leadership over the Ahinda group—comprising minorities, backward classes and Dalits—yet the community has not embraced him, and no single faction can call him its head.
He also accused Siddaramaiah of blackmailing senior party leaders and said a no‑confidence motion against the Congress‑led government would not be ruled out in the Winter Session.
Earlier Saturday, CM Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar reiterated their unity at a joint press conference at the CM’s residence, Cauvery, after their breakfast meeting. Siddaramaiah stressed that they move together and that no differences exist between them. “In recent days there has been confusion,” he said, “so we sat down and clarified our strategy. We’re focused on winning the 2028 Assembly elections and the upcoming local body polls, just as we did in 2023.” When asked about a “given word,” he replied, “What is that ‘given word’? I’ve always said we will follow whatever the high command decides.” On power‑sharing, he added, “We will obey whatever the high command tells us, regardless of whether everyone understands it.”
