Assam CM on SIT report

Assam CM Sarma Drops Bombshell on SIT Report Linking Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi to Pakistan Connections

In a major revelation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has pointed to a shocking Special Investigation Team (SIT) report that exposes a cartel trying to tarnish India’s development story. Speaking to reporters in Guwahati on Friday, Sarma revealed the 96-page explosive document uncovers serious national security concerns, including the role of a Pakistani citizen and the British wife of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who heads the party’s Assam unit.

"This report is a game-changer," Sarma said. "We’ve recovered key documents tied to our country’s sovereignty. It clearly shows a cartel at work to defame India’s progress, with one Pakistani national and the MP’s wife playing major roles." He added that the government will discuss the findings in the cabinet soon and release the full report to the public afterward, once the ongoing Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections wrap up.

The SIT probe, as per the report, highlights direct links between Gaurav Gogoi—Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha—and anti-India activities involving Pakistan’s ISI. Assam BJP spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami echoed this in a press release on Thursday, stating the investigation proves Gogoi and his family conspired with a Pakistani named Ali Tauqeer Sheikh to undermine India’s sovereignty. "This is embarrassing for Assam’s people," Goswami said, noting Gogoi’s father, the late Tarun Gogoi, was a three-time Chief Minister.

Sarma also touched on brighter news during his address. Talking about the BJP’s manifesto for the BTC elections, he promised new infrastructure, a top-notch higher education institution in the region, and steps to empower women and families. "We’re committed to building a stronger Bodoland," he assured.

But Gaurav Gogoi isn’t backing down. On Wednesday, the Congress leader slammed the allegations as "fabricated lies" cooked up by Sarma to dodge his government’s corruption scandals. "Sarma thinks Assamese people are fools who’ll swallow his wild claims," Gogoi told reporters. "He doesn’t respect our intelligence. This is just a distraction from his illegal wealth-building using the CM’s office."

As the controversy heats up, eyes are on the cabinet’s next move post-BTC polls. This Pakistan connection in Assam politics could shake up national security debates, with many wondering what the full SIT report will reveal about these alleged anti-India activities.
