On Wednesday, fierce winds in Twin Falls, Idaho tore down trees and snapped power lines, leaving two children badly hurt.
According to the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, the gusts uprooted a number of old, rotting trees, sending them crashing onto the wires and injuring the kids, who were waiting for their bus at the time.
The sheriff’s office has urged residents to watch out for wind‑related hazards, especially around older or weakened trees, loose debris, and outdoor structures.
They recommend that anyone in the area steer clear of places where large or aging trees could fall until the weather improves.
A Wind Advisory remains in force through 5:00 p.m. MST.
“Your awareness and caution can help keep our community safe,” the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media.
Wind reports from the FOX Forecast Center indicate gusts in the region hovered between 50 and 60 mph, with the strongest reading—68 mph—recorded at about 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
