Shilpa Shetty’s business partner clarifies the reason behind the closing of Bastian Bandra

Actress Shilpa Shetty recently announced the closure of her popular Bandra restaurant in Mumbai, sparking rumors and speculation. Many wondered if the restaurant’s shutdown was linked to recent financial issues involving Shilpa and her husband, Raj Kundra.
But now, there’s good news. Shilpa’s business partner, Ranjit Bindra, clarified that the restaurant’s closure isn’t the end of their food journey. Instead, it marks the start of exciting new projects.
“Bandra was our beginning, and while that chapter closes, two new stories are coming soon,” said Bindra, CEO of Bastian Hospitality. He shared that by mid-October, the iconic Bandra spot will transform into Ammakai, a restaurant focused on South Indian cuisine. The aim is to celebrate traditional South Indian recipes rich in regional flavors and heritage.
The company is also expanding to Juhu with a new venture called Bastian Beach Club, bringing their signature style to a new location.
Bindra added, “Bandra’s always been close to us. As we grow, we want to honor South Indian food with Ammakai and introduce a fresh, energetic vibe with Bastian at Juhu. We’re closing one chapter, but two new ones are about to begin, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
Meanwhile, some readers may recall that Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra faced legal trouble in the past. They were booked by Mumbai’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for allegedly defrauding a businessman of over ₹60 crore in a loan and investment case linked to their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. The businessman, Deepak Kothari, accused the couple of cheating and using the funds for personal expenses between 2015 and 2023.
