Trump admin to provide Ukraine with intelligence – and potentially long-range missiles –  to hit targets deep inside Russia: report

President Trump has greenlit a new push to help Ukraine hit deep into Russia with missile strikes on key energy targets, like oil refineries and pipelines that fuel Moscow’s war machine. This move, reported by the Wall Street Journal, lets U.S. intelligence agencies and the Pentagon share crucial data with Kyiv to target infrastructure bankrolling Russia’s invasion.

The Trump administration is also urging NATO allies in Europe to pitch in with their own intelligence for Ukraine’s defense efforts, according to U.S. officials. This marks the first time the White House is directly aiding long-range strikes inside Russian territory, going beyond the drone and missile support Washington has provided before.

On top of intel sharing, the administration is weighing options to supply Ukraine with advanced long-range weapons. That could include Tomahawk and Barracuda cruise missiles, which can strike targets more than 500 miles away. Officials stress no final call has been made yet on sending these powerful tools.

The news comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pressed Trump during a private UN meeting last week to sell Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Reports suggest Trump seemed open to the idea. These missiles pack a punch with a range of up to 1,500 miles, easily putting Russia’s capital, Moscow, in reach.

Right now, the farthest-reaching U.S. weapons in Ukraine’s arsenal are ATACMS missiles, limited to about 190 miles. Back in August, the Trump team approved selling over 3,000 Extended Range Attack Munitions, which extend that to around 280 miles.

Trump’s growing backing for Ukraine aligns with stalled peace talks with Russia. Last week, he labeled Russia a “paper tiger” after fresh U.S. intel showed the Kremlin facing economic collapse and military setbacks from the war. For the first time, Trump voiced confidence that Ukraine’s forces could reclaim all its original territory.

The White House hasn’t commented on these developments yet.
