Colombo (Sri Lanka) – November 22 (LatestNewsX) – India annihilated Australia at the famous P. Sara Oval, clinching a place in the final of the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind with a resounding nine‑wicket victory.
Earlier in the tournament, India showcased razor‑sharp precision and nerves of steel to beat the United States in Match 6, securing their fourth straight win and a straight ticket to the semi‑finals.
The Americans opted to bat first and recorded 60 for 8 in 20 overs, with steady contributions from Tatyana (17 off 41, B2) and Caroline (12 off 26, B2). India’s bowlers – Simranjeet Kour (B2), Sunita Srathe (B2), Simu Das (B1) and Ganga Kadam (B3) – maintained a tight spell, supported by sharp fielding that yielded several run‑outs, each bowler taking a wicket.
In pursuit of 61 in the Sri Lankan capital, India delivered an explosive and undefeated knock, concluding the chase in just 3.3 overs. B2 batter Simranjeet Kour, who later earned Player of the Match, dominated with a blistering 31 off 12 balls, while B3 batter Kavya N.R topped the scorecard with 21 off 12 to seal the victory.
The team’s flawless execution across the B1, B2 and B3 categories highlighted the young USA side’s spirited resolve – a squad nurtured with care by Samarthanam USA and CABI. The innings was anchored by Player of the Match Basanti Hansda, whose calm and class steered India’s credible chase.
The competition assembled six countries – India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal and the United States – marking a new milestone in the global push for inclusive cricket.
The event’s opening saw many distinguished guests from politics, diplomacy, industry and sport, all coming together to support and celebrate the inspirational women athletes from the visually impaired community.
