New Delhi – Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) joined forces to boost India’s defence technology. On Monday, the two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will drive joint research and development in key areas such as logistics management, operational logistics, chip design, hardware security, and advanced encryption like homomorphic and blockchain solutions.
The partnership aims to strengthen the skills of researchers and scientists in military science, logistics, and technical research. GSV and DRDO will collaborate on studies, host joint seminars and conferences, and run round‑table workshops to share expertise and results.
GSV already works closely with the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy on logistics and supply‑chain research. The new MoU with DRDO will give the university a stronger foothold in cutting‑edge defence research and help India develop indigenous systems that can be seamlessly deployed.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence Research and Development, in front of university officials.
Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, India’s first university dedicated to transportation and logistics, was established as a Central University in 2022 by the Parliament. It operates under the Ministry of Railways and covers all modes of transport—railways, highways, ports, air, sea, and inland waterways—along with full supply‑chain networks. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, serves as its Chancellor.
