Bhubaneswar – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Nuapada district on Monday and announced a fresh wave of development work worth more than ₹1,100 crore. He opened the doors of his offices for district residents, promising that the state government will keep listening to local concerns.
While touring the area, CM Majhi said that Odisha’s “double‑engine” government—under Prime Minister Modi—will serve people throughout the state, big or small, near or far. He spoke of a growing bond with Nuapada and of the state’s commitment to lift every region equally.
Key projects highlighted
- ₹1,101 crore in new schemes: The Chief Minister inaugurated 109 projects costing ₹64 million and laid foundation stones for 39 projects worth ₹160 million.
- Irrigation focus: He announced a special water‑project package of ₹802 million to ensure that farmers in Anndatas and beyond receive irrigation water.
- Industrial growth: Majhi said plans are underway to set up industry in every district, giving equal priority to northern, southern and western Odisha.
- Local governance changes: For the first time, Khariar Road was elevated to a municipality from a Nagar Panchayat Committee (NAC). Komana block was also granted NAC status, and Sinapali and Godal gram panchayats merged to form the Sinapali NAC.
This marks the Chief Minister’s third visit to Nuapada after opening ₹320 million of projects in April and paying respects at the memorial service for former MLA Rajendra Dholakia. In total, the government now has about ₹1,420 crore of projects underway in the district.
The Election Commission announced that the by‑election for the Nuapada assembly constituency will take place on November 11. The new projects and local governance moves highlight the state’s pledge to bring balanced growth to all parts of Odisha.
