Head‑liner Shefali Shah returns as police officer Vartika Chaturvedi, who has been promoted from Deputy Commissioner to Deputy Inspector General. Her move to Assam sets the stage for season three.

When asked about the new storyline, Chopra explained that the season picks up right after the cliffhanger at the end of season two. In that episode, several Delhi detectives were sent to a “punishment posting.” Now, a year later, the show begins with Vartika’s new assignment.

The director said the team had to decide where to start: “Do we begin at the moment she packs to leave, or jump two years ahead?” He chose the former, adding a fresh chapter while keeping the characters familiar.

Character growth is a big focus. Vartika is now DIG, and her protégé Neeti has stepped up, taking on more responsibility and even sharing Vartika’s duties in Delhi. These shifts keep the story dynamic and grounded in real police life.

Delhi Crime won the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series, and its realistic storytelling has earned acclaim worldwide. Netflix fans can binge the new season starting November 13.
