Mumbai, Nov 24 – The news that veteran actor Dharmendra has passed away has left many in shock, including politician and former television star Smriti Irani. Irani remembered a time when she was just 27 and had asked the legendary actor for help with her campaign. “He said, ‘Puttar, I’ll be there,’ and he indeed showed up among the crowds in Paharganj and Chandni Chowk, holding every word that fans heard.” She praised his elder‑sibling spirit, saying he acted as a guardian for someone in need, and that his death feels personal because she felt like she knew him daily. Concluding her tribute, she posted, “Farewell, Sir … you leave behind millions heartbroken. Thank you for the smiles, the laughter, the blessings … thank you for being you #dharmendraji.”

Actor Vicky Kaushal also sent condolences, writing on social media, “Deeply saddened by this tragic news. You’ll always continue to be in our hearts, Dharam Ji. Om Shanti.” Bollywood icon Preity Zinta, who has long admired Dharmendra, posted a moving note: “What do you say about a man that was all heart, so loving, so compassionate & one of the biggest superstars & a legend of Indian cinema?” She added, “When I didn’t know him I loved him and when I met him I loved him even more. Words fail me as I feel sadness creep into my heart.” She went on, “I will miss you beyond words, Dharam Ji! Thank you for always being so kind and for being so generous and loving to me. Thank you for entertaining us and for uplifting others around you. You lit up so many lives. There will never be another like you. Rest in peace.”

Dharmendra, who died on November 24 at 89, had been hospitalized earlier for breathing difficulties and was placed on a ventilator before being discharged and recovering at home. –LatestNewsX
