Mumbai, Nov. 9 – Bollywood film star Urmila Matondkar is turning up in full 90s‑style flair for the big opening of Indian Idol 16.

“Seeing my first film in a cinema and hearing that opening number made me feel so alive,” Urmila told reporters. “Back then, fans would toss coins into the theater while the music played. I’m giving you that same coin of my life—my own lucky charm and a little bit of that old‑school magic.”

The star‑struck evening was packed with music legends. Sukhwinder Singh and Kavita Krishnamurthy also graced the event, adding extra star power to Indian Idol 16’s premiere celebrations. The veteran actress is expected to keep the buzz alive for weeks as the series prepares for a national audience.

Urmila had previously graced Indian Idol during its 14th season, where she reminisced about her days on the set of the 1992 rom‑com Chamatkar. The film originally starred Shah Rukh Khan, and she praised his talent and kindness.

“Shahrukh is not only an amazing actor but a wonderful person,” she shared. “He’s humble, he brings a special vibe on set, and he makes his co‑actors feel at ease. Everyone who’s shared screen space with him feels truly lucky.”

Fans of Bollywood, reality TV, and 90s music are on the lookout for more updates as Indian Idol 16 ramps up its production. Stay tuned for performances that promise to bring fresh energy to the stage while paying homage to classic hits and legendary stars.
