Shubhankar Sharma faced another tough day at the BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth, UK, missing his 15th straight cut. The Indian golfer posted scores of 71 in the first round and 74 in the second, finishing well above the cut line at 2-under par. That meant 82 players moved on, but a second cut after the third round will trim the field to just 78 for the final day.

Sharma’s form has been a real struggle lately. He hasn’t made a cut since the Indian Open back home, and this miss adds to the challenges he’s been facing on the European Tour.

Meanwhile, Veer Ahlawat, who topped the PGTI Order of Merit in India, didn’t even make it into the BMW PGA Championship field this week. It’s a missed opportunity for the rising star.

At the top of the leaderboard, Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama is stealing the show. The Major Champion leads by one shot after a stunning second-round 64, packed with two eagles. He started the weather-hit first round four shots back but charged ahead in the afternoon wave.

Matsuyama kicked things off strong on the front nine with an eagle and two birdies for a 31. After the turn, he added three birdies in four holes to climb the ranks. Sure, he dropped a bogey on the 15th after a wayward tee shot, but he roared back with a chip-in eagle on the 17th. That put him at 12-under par and in sole possession of the lead.

Chasing him closely are European Ryder Cup stars Justin Rose, Ludvig Aberg, and Viktor Hovland, all tied for second at 11-under. Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal sits one shot further back at 10-under.

Big names like Rory McIlroy (69-72) and Shane Lowry (67-74) are tied for 44th, while Tommy Fleetwood birdied the 18th for a 69 in the second round after opening with 73, landing him at T-61.

With a star-studded field and plenty of drama ahead, the weekend at the BMW PGA Championship promises more excitement in professional golf’s elite events.
