In the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour, two Indian golfers, Ridhima Dilawari and Hitaashee Bakshi, made history as the only players from India to advance past the cut. They both wrapped up the tournament in a solid tie for 24th place, showing great promise on the international stage.
The other Indian contenders—Vani Kapoor, Sneha Singh, Tvesa Malik, and Pranavi Urs—fought hard but couldn’t make the cut this time around. It’s a tough break, but these rising stars in women’s golf are sure to bounce back.
Over in England, Alice Hewson stole the show by defending her title with a calm and collected final round. The 28-year-old started the day with a two-shot lead at Golfpark Holzhausern and fired a stunning 67 (-4) to win by five shots. This marks her third LET victory, and she celebrated with five birdies, including three in a row on the last holes, despite just one bogey.
Hewson first tasted success four years ago at the 2020 Investec South African Women Open, followed by her win here in Switzerland last year. Her back-to-back triumphs highlight her growing dominance in Ladies European Tour events.
Ridhima and Hitaashee teed off together in the morning’s first group. Hitaashee notched one birdie and one bogey on the front nine, while Ridhima stayed steady with nine straight pars. They both lit up the back nine with three birdies and one bogey each, finishing the round at 69 and ending the week at 4-under par.
Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini, Sweden’s Kajsa Arwefjall, and Ireland’s Lauren Walsh shared second place on 8-under par. Right behind them, England’s Amy Taylor and Ireland’s Sara Byrne tied for fourth at 7-under.
In the latest LET Order of Merit standings, England’s Mimi Rhodes holds the top spot with 1,960.49 points. Singapore’s Shannon Tan follows closely in second with 1,641.95, and Czechia’s Sara Kouskova sits third at 1,566.83. Tamburlini’s strong T2 finish boosts her to sixth place with 1,363.08 points.
The Ladies European Tour action doesn’t stop—next up is the La Sella Open in Spain at La Sella Golf Resort, running from September 18 to 21. Golf fans, keep an eye on these exciting women’s golf tournaments!
