Dubai, Oct 7 – South Africa’s star batter Tazmin Brits is now ranked fourth in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, thanks to her 101‑run knock that helped the Proteas clinch a six‑wicket win over New Zealand in the Women’s World Cup.
Brits’ century is her fifth this year, making her the first woman to score more than four centuries in a single calendar year. The win helped South Africa bounce back from a loss to England in the opening match of the tournament.
Australia’s Ash Gardner also climbed the rankings, reaching fifth place for the first time. Gardner’s 115 off 83 against New Zealand gave her a burst of confidence and pushed his rating points to 697, just behind Brits’ 706.
New Zealand captain Sophie Devine moved up to eighth place, sharing her career‑best ranking after scoring 112 and 85 in two matches. She returned to that spot last October.
Pakistan opener Sidra Amin broke into the top 10 for the first time, reaching 10th with an 81‑run outing against India. She had been ranked 13th in December 2023.
India’s Deepti Sharma edged up a place to 17th after scoring 53 against Sri Lanka and 25 against Pakistan.
In the bowling department, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp rose to fifth place. Her teammate Nonkululeko Mlaba had an excellent four‑wicket haul against New Zealand, earning a career‑high 13th spot with 589 points, up from 19th in September.
Australia’s Alana King advanced from eighth to seventh, and Annabel Sutherland, just 19 points behind Mlaba, moved into 14th place – her best ranking to date after being 17th in December 2024.
These moves show how the Women’s World Cup is reshaping the global rankings, with key performances from players across the board.
