Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Pushes for Quick Temple Upgrades in Basara and Medaram
In a big move to boost pilgrim facilities, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered officials to wrap up the master plan for the famous Basara and Medaram temples. He wants everything ready for devotees, and he’s set a tight 100-day deadline to finish development work at the iconic Medaram temple.
During a review meeting on Monday, the Chief Minister announced he’ll personally visit the Medaram temple this week to check on progress. Officials from the Endowment Department shared details about the proposed plans for developing these two major temples in Telangana.
CM Revanth Reddy stressed that the Medaram temple needs a well-planned makeover. He directed the team to ensure all facilities are in place before the massive Medaram Jatara kicks off in January 2026. This huge festival, known as the Sammakka Sarakka Jatara, is Asia’s largest tribal gathering and attracts nearly 2 crore devotees from across India every two years. To make it happen fast, authorities must complete the Medaram temple development in just 100 days.
The CM made it clear: use natural stones for building the temple structures to keep things authentic and eco-friendly. He also called for plenty of parking spaces at entry and exit points so devotees face no hassle during their visits. On top of that, officials need to plan check dams on the nearby Jampanna Vagu stream to store water for future use – a smart step for sustainability.
Medaram, located in Mulugu district, holds a special place as the heart of the biennial Sammakka Sarakka Jatara. This vibrant tribal festival draws crowds from all over, celebrating ancient traditions with great energy.
For the Basara Saraswati Temple, the Chief Minister suggested respecting local sentiments in every step of the expansion. He advised involving local experts and priests to ensure the construction follows Vastu principles, keeping the spiritual vibe intact.
The meeting saw key participation from ministers like Konda Surekha, Seethakka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Adluri Lakshman. Also present were CM Principal Secretary Srinivasa Raju, Endowment Department Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramayyar, and other senior officials.
This push for temple development in Telangana highlights the government’s focus on preserving cultural heritage while making pilgrimages smoother for millions. Devotees can look forward to better experiences at these sacred sites soon!
