Chhattisgarh to buy paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal from Nov 15 with digital tokens, biometric checks

Raipur, Oct 10 – The Chhattisgarh government has green‑lit a new paddy buying drive that will start on Nov 15. Farmers in the state can sell rice at ₹3,100 per quintal for the 2025‑26 Kharif season, a move that aims to lift over 2.5 million farmers’ incomes.
The purchase window runs until 31 Jan 2026, and each farmer can sell up to 21 quintals per acre. Payments will be made within six to seven days, so cash gets into pockets quickly.
A key part of the plan is technology. Farmers will book their sales online via the “Tuhar Hath” mobile app, cutting long queues at 2,739 designated procurement centers. The state has also made e‑KYC mandatory on the AgriStake portal set up by the Ministry of Agriculture; registration closes on 31 Oct 2025. This helps ensure that only genuine farmers take advantage of the scheme.
To keep the process clean, the government will use biometric verification at every sale and will conduct physical checks on lifted paddy. Committees that run procurement centers will earn an extra ₹5 per quintal if they keep the rice free of moisture. Both new and old jute bags will be supplied to meet demand.
Chhattisgarh’s Digital Crop Survey mapped 23 lakh hectares of paddy and feeds this data into the online system. Since Oct 2, survey results and manual “Girdawari” data have been read aloud at Gram Sabha meetings in about 20,000 villages, keeping the community in the loop.
In a first for the state, an Integrated Command and Control Center will sit at the Markfed office to monitor real‑time procurement activity and stop any recycling of paddy. District‑level control rooms and special check teams will also be set up to block illegal inflows from neighbouring states.
The central Food Department has set a target of 73 lakh tonnes of rice for Chhattisgarh’s Central Pool, so this program is a big step toward meeting that goal while keeping farmers at the center of the effort.
