Telangana CM reviews ‘2027 Godavari Pushkaralu’, directs advance planning for infrastructure

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants to turn the Godavari Pushkaralu 2027 into the grand Kumbh Mela of South India. He has ordered officials to kick off early preparations right away to make this massive festival a huge success.
During a high-level meeting at the Command Control Center, the CM stressed the need for solid planning. He called for permanent setups along the Godavari River to handle the huge crowds of devotees. Key spots like Basara, Bhadrachalam, Dharmapuri, and Kaleshwaram will see tons of visitors, so he wants major temples on the riverbanks developed first.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that the festival kicks off on July 23, 2027, giving plenty of time to build lasting infrastructure. Officials shared that the Godavari flows 560 km through Telangana from Maharashtra, so they plan to set up Pushkar ghats at about 74 locations. The CM urged them to focus on these areas, especially where holy dips happen.
To avoid any hassle for the lakhs of devotees, he directed teams to assess crowd sizes and build top-notch facilities. This includes strong roads and highways, smooth traffic control, plenty of parking, clean drinking water, safe bathing ghats, and enough places to stay. Even if two lakh people show up at a ghat in one day, everything should run like clockwork.
The Chief Minister suggested hiring expert consultancies—those who have handled events like the Maha Kumbh Mela or Pushkar festivals in other states. They should visit the temples, create custom development plans based on local needs, and prepare detailed project reports.
Revanth Reddy also pushed for using central government schemes like Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission to fund the Godavari Pushkaralu preparations. He asked officials to team up with departments such as Tourism, Irrigation, and Endowments, and even seek a special funding package from the Centre by listing out all the required works.
Minister Kondareddy Surekha and Advisor Vem Narender Reddy joined the meeting along with top officials, ensuring everyone stays on the same page for this exciting South India Kumbh Mela event. With these steps, Telangana aims to host an unforgettable Godavari Pushkaralu that draws devotees from across the country.
