The Indian women’s blind cricket team is leading the field in the first ever Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind 2025, winning every game so far and keeping a perfect record of five straight victories. Their latest win over Pakistan in Colombo saw the squad celebrate with a warm welcome from H.E. Santosh Jha, the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, at the India House residence.
High Commissioner Jha praised the players for their “resilience, discipline and sporting spirit.” He congratulated captain Deepika TC and the entire squad, saying India is proud of their “outstanding performance” and urging them to carry the country’s flag into the semifinals on November 22. The meeting also highlighted the growth of blind cricket and India’s leadership in promoting accessibility and inclusion through sport.
Jha, joined by his wife Tanuja Jha and other Indian High Commission officials, hosted a high‑tea gathering at the iconic India House. He highlighted support for blind cricket development and praised the Cricket Association for the Blind (CABI), led by Chairman Dr. Mahantesh G.K. and President Mr. Buse Gowda, for their efforts in advancing the game.
The gathering reinforced the team’s confidence as they aim to bring home the inaugural SBI Women’s T20 World Cup trophy. So far, India has beaten Sri Lanka, Australia, England, Nepal, and Pakistan. The tournament began in New Delhi before moving to Bengaluru, while all Pakistan matches have been played in Colombo.
The World Cup has drawn strong backing from schools, corporations, CSR partners, volunteers, and even filmmakers who are documenting the players’ journeys. Their stories of determination and resilience are reaching audiences worldwide, helping to elevate the impact of blind cricket across the globe.
