Reema Devi is a proud resident of Bagaha, a village in West Champaran district of Bihar. Not long ago, she struggled to make ends meet and could barely support her family. Her life changed when she joined the Jeevika Didi scheme, a women‑employment program run under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The Jeevika group gave Reema a financial boost that started her own small shop. She first received ₹10,000 to set up the store and another ₹20,000 to buy the initial stock. A few months later the scheme added ₹45,000, which helped her expand the business and increase sales. Today, her shop supplies fresh food and household items, bringing steady income into her home.
“Before, women in our village were afraid to leave the house. Now we’re running our own businesses and no longer worry about money,” Reema told . She thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his support, saying his women‑employment scheme has made a real difference.
The Bihar Women Employment Scheme is aimed at giving every family in the state a woman an opportunity to start her own livelihood activity. By providing seed money and training, the program encourages economic independence and social empowerment for women across the state.
Reema’s story is just one example of how the Jeevika Didi scheme is helping women in rural Bihar become self‑reliant and build sustainable businesses. Her success shows that women entrepreneurship, supported by government grants, can transform families and strengthen communities.
