New Delhi, Nov 16 – Two days after Bihar’s assembly elections, the state’s chief electoral officer, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, handed the list of 243 newly elected members to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at Raj Bhavan in Patna.
The list, published by the Election Commission of India, names every new lawmaker. It shows that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 202 seats, the Mahagathbandhan secured 34, and smaller parties like AIMIM, the Indian Inclusive Party, and the Bahujan Samaj Party also made gains.
“In 2025, the Bihar Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission’ll hand over the result list to the Governor,” Gunjiyal posted on X, confirming the official tally.
News outlets noted that after the results, NDA leaders thanked voters for a sweeping victory. They said the win reflects the public’s support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s development agenda.
Earlier in the campaign, Modi had asked Bihar voters to turn out in record numbers and give the NDA a strong mandate. He said the people delivered: “Bihar voted for a developed, prosperous future. We had asked for record turnout, and Bihar delivered. We also asked the NDA to win big, and the people honored that request,” Modi told supporters at a BJP rally.
Modi also criticized the “Muslim‑Yadav” (MY) strategy promoted by the Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD). He claimed the youth of Bihar chose a new MY formula and praised the party’s booth workers and staff for their hard work in securing the win.
The results, announced two days ago, confirm that the NDA leads the new Bihar Legislative Assembly with a commanding majority. The official list now sits with the governor’s office, marking the formal start of the new assembly’s term.
