Patna, Oct 6 – India’s Election Commission told voters on Monday that the Bihar state elections will take place in two phases. The announcement also activated the Model Code of Conduct for the whole state, ensuring a clean and fair polling process.
Union Home Affairs Minister Nityanand Rai welcomed the schedule, saying the new dates are “favourable” and that Bihar’s people are set to “wipe out the opposition” this time. He added that the “jungle raj” of the 1990‑2005 era—when booth looting was common—has ended, and he praised the Election Commission for keeping the polls transparent and peaceful.
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said he is confident the NDA alliance will form the government again after the polls. Sinha framed the election as a chance for voters to pick the direction of Bihar’s development and self‑reliance. He highlighted the state’s progress in electricity, roads, education, health and employment under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar.
BJP’s state president Dilip Jaiswal echoed Sinha’s optimism, saying the voters will choose development and re‑elect the NDA government. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary told reporters in Patna that the BJP‑NDA team is ready for a “political battle” and will “win and form the government again.”
As Bihar’s citizens prepare to head to the polls, the key question remains: will they choose continued progress or a return to past chaos? The outcome will set an example for free and fair elections across India.
