On November 28 in Bihar, a shocking attack unfolded in the Khagaria district when unknown gunmen opened fire on a senior BJP leader while he was out and about. The gunshot struck him in the chest, leaving him with serious injuries. Local residents immediately hauled him to Khagaria Sadar Hospital, where doctors assessed his condition as “extremely critical” after first‑aid measures. Due to the severity of his wounds, the delegation was sent straight to a higher‑level medical centre for advanced care.

The victim, Dilip Kumar, is a key figure in the BJP’s Khagaria unit. He previously held the post of General Secretary and now serves on the party’s Mandal Working Committee. His influence extends across local politics and civil society, so the attack sent shockwaves among party members and heightened unease among the broader community. His wife later recalled, “I received a call from him, and he simply said that someone had shot at him.”

Following the assault, the family rushed to the Sadar Hospital to see the wounded leader. Sundar Paswan, the person in charge of Gangaur police station, said that ensuring the victim’s treatment is the top priority at the moment. “No written application has been received from the victim’s side yet. However, the police have started investigating the case and raids are being conducted to identify and arrest the perpetrators,” he stated.

“We are scanning the CCTV footage of the area to identify the accused. We are also waiting for the recovery of the victim to record his statement. It would be crucial for us to identify the accused and the possible reasons for the attack,” Paswan added. The daylight assault on a prominent political figure has intensified concerns about law and order in Khagaria. Residents are pressing the state government for immediate action and the prompt arrest of those responsible.
