The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is finalising a new state committee in West Bengal and is expected to announce the panel by the end of next week.
The party’s central observer for the state, Sunil Bansal, will meet the newly‑elected state president and Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya on November 7 in Kolkata. In that meeting, the list of committee members will be finalized.
After the meeting, Bhattacharya will travel to New Delhi next week with the finished list for approval from the BJP’s national leadership. The announcement of the new state committee is likely to take place in the capital city.
Bhattacharya said he hopes the committee will be in place by mid‑November. He added that the party will choose “dedicated and active leaders with proven loyalty” to fill the new positions. The BJP’s central leadership has emphasised that most of the 31 new members will focus on organisational work, rather than running for office—except for a few members who are already elected public representatives and will remain on the lineup.
In short, the West Bengal BJP aims to strengthen its party structure with a committee of dedicated organisers, ready to launch this week.
