Kolkata, Nov 25 (LatestNewsX) — The BJP dismissed the two‑day protest by a group of booth‑level officers (BLOs) that is part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal as nothing more than a “Trinamool Congress‑orchestrated circus to intimidate a Constitutional body and sabotage the democracy.”
Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP member Suvendu Adhikari said that the photos and videos circulating over the last two days clearly show a “motley crew of Trinamool Congress proxies spewing venomous slogans against the West Bengal CEO, Manoj Kumar Agarwal.” He claimed that these “conspirators” are key Trinamool Congress associates who are targeting Election Commission officials such as Agarwal and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar simply for performing their duty to ensure free and fair elections. Adhikari also questioned how many of the protestors were actually BLOs.
He added that the event was a staged drama, stating, “When they cannot carry out their usual tricks, they bully the referee! Attacking the ECI, a pillar of our Constitution, is not a protest; it is treason against the people’s mandate. They have tried every dirty trick, from bogus voter lists to poll violence, and now this?”
Amit Malviya, the BJP’s Information Technology Cell chief and central observer for West Bengal, tweeted on Tuesday evening that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had “levelled up to bullying the BLOs and threatening the state Chief Electoral Officer.” He described her as the “caretaker CM,” still on notice period, and claimed, “She’s suddenly the grand authority on everyone else’s future with barely six months left in her final tenure. Her pot of sins is overflowing, her empathy for BLOs is non‑existent, and she’ll derail the SIR if that’s what it takes. But she won’t succeed. As for people’s trauma? It doesn’t even register on her radar.”
