CWC passes strong resolutions against NDA govt at Patna meet

The Congress Working Committee’s extended meeting in Patna kicked off with a bang on Wednesday, as party leaders gathered at Sadaqat Ashram under President Mallikarjun Kharge’s guidance. With Bihar’s Assembly elections on the horizon, the group rolled out tough resolutions slamming the NDA government in the state and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s central administration.

Congress leaders framed the session as a rallying cry to end what they call NDA misgovernance in Bihar and protect democratic values nationwide. They accused the BJP and RSS of launching brutal assaults on India’s Constitution, chipping away at core principles like liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice.

On key issues, the CWC hit hard at efforts to weaken reservations through privatization, job recruitment blocks, and sneaky disqualifications. They claimed Parliament has lost its strength, constitutional roles face disrespect, and agencies like the Election Commission now act as the government’s echo chamber. Plus, CBI and ED probes look more like tools for political revenge than fair enforcement.

Economically, the picture painted was bleak. Congress leaders pointed to skyrocketing unemployment, the crumbling of small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that power India’s job market, and government stats twisted to hide the truth. They’ve flagged over 80 major exam paper leaks since 2014, robbing young people of fair chances. Everyday folks feel the pinch from soaring prices on essentials, while policies boost a handful of crony capitalists at the expense of farmers, workers, and the middle class. The resolutions also blasted GST rules for ignoring federalism and shortchanging states on revenue.

Natural disasters added to the urgency. The CWC expressed heartbreak over floods, droughts, and other crises hitting Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra. They urged a major overhaul of India’s development approach to tackle these growing threats.

Foreign policy drew sharp criticism too. Congress warned of eroding India’s strategic autonomy, with the Modi government flip-flopping between cozying up to the US and tilting toward China. Chinese imports have doubled in just five years, leaving India overly reliant on Beijing for vital areas like agriculture, automobiles, electronics, defense, and renewable energy. Neighboring unrest in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Myanmar has dented India’s regional clout, while US trade spats and tougher H1B visa rules harm Indian professionals. The group called out India’s quiet stance on the Gaza crisis as a low point in foreign policy morals.

Not all notes were negative— the CWC praised Telangana’s government for leading the way by reserving 42% of local body seats for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Turning focus to Bihar, Congress alleged massive vote rigging and voter list tampering by the BJP to fake a majority. They demanded the NDA state government’s ouster to guarantee clean elections, congratulating Rahul Gandhi for spotlighting the plot. “A regime built on stolen votes and rigged lists lacks any real legitimacy,” the resolution declared. This fight, they said, goes beyond power—it’s about saving the Constitution, economy, democracy, social justice, and national unity.

The party accused the BJP of a “vote-for-notes” scam to buy support, plus abusing police, administration, health, education, and transport systems for election wins. They called on the Election Commission to file cases against culprits and punish officials caught fiddling with voter lists.

The CWC backed Rahul Gandhi’s push for a “right to recall” mechanism, seeing it as a smart way to boost accountability and transparency in elections without stirring trouble.

Wrapping up, the group reaffirmed its vow to uphold the Constitution, bring back justice and equality, and dismantle corrupt, authoritarian rule. They stressed that Bihar’s upcoming polls will shape the NDA’s fate, urging participatory governance with stability and vision. Congress promised to battle for the Constitution, social justice, and economic fairness every step of the way.
