Raipur/Khairaghar: In a major development for law‑enforcement agencies, twelve insurgents surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Khairagarh Chhuikhadan Gandai district, including the notorious “Ramdher Majji” of the CCM. The handover took place at the Bakarkatta police station and represents a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the MMC region that spans Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
“Ramdher Majji” had previously earned a bounty of one crore rupees and was widely regarded as one of the toughest challenges faced by police across the three states. A senior Central Committee member, he arrived with his divisional committee colleagues and surrendered his AK‑47, along with ACM Ramsingh Dada and ACM Sukesh Pottam, who also laid down arms.
Police recovered a sizeable arsenal that included AK‑47s, INSAS rifles, SLRs, .303 rifles, and 0.30 carbines. The surrender also involved six female cadres—Lakshmi, Sheela, Yogita, Kavita, Sagar, as well as DVCM Lalita and DVCM Janaki—highlighting the active role of women within the Maoist ranks. Other prominent names on the list were DVCM Chandu Usendi and DVCM Prem.
Officials say that this wave of capitulation has seriously weakened the insurgent network in the area. The group had been active throughout the special zonal committee’s operating territory, coordinating attacks and remaining a constant threat to authorities.
The drop of “Ramdher Majji” is being celebrated as a turning point, with senior officials claiming the MMC zone has effectively collapsed as a result of his decision to surrender. Long‑established Maoist nests in forested and remote districts have faced mounting pressure from sustained security campaigns. The high‑level defections—including CCM, DVCM, ACM, and PM members—underscore the success of intensified operations and outreach initiatives aimed at eroding the insurgency.
Authorities expect this move to inspire other cadres to follow suit, reducing violence and restoring stability in affected locales. For the time being, the surrender of “Ramdher Majji” and his associates marks one of the most significant victories against Maoist influence in recent years, signaling the near dismantling of the MMC zone’s operational backbone.
