Gandhinagar, Nov 13 – Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel opened the Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2025 and the Food for Thought Fest 2025 at the Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre. The two‑week celebrations run from Nov 13 to 23 and will let visitors explore books, food, and local culture for free.
High‑profile launch
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was among guests who came to the ribbon‑cutting. They pledged to support Swadeshi products and promote local authors. CM Patel revealed the “Mission Four Million Trees” coffee‑table book and toured the National Book Trust stall, talking about gardens and green initiatives. He also signed a canvas, noting how proud Ahmedabad is and that the city is ready to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
New book debut
Indian‑American author Jay Patel launched his first book, Barrister Mr. Patel, on the 150th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India.” The book, co‑written with filmmaker Abhishek Dudhaiya, was officially unveiled by CM Patel.
Innovation and kids’ zones
At the Innovation Pavilion, CM Patel praised companies like Recycle Green, IOTA Diagnostic, WeHear, and KeenKey LLP for their eco‑friendly solutions. He also visited the Children’s Pavilion, a highlight of the book festival that encourages kids to read and write.
Spiritual and food corner
During the Food for Thought Fest, the Spiritual Pavilion hosted saints and spiritual leaders. CM Patel received traditional prasadam and sampled dishes that showcase Gujarat’s diverse culinary heritage, stressing how food can bring people together.
Community participation
The event drew municipal officials, local literary figures, students, and book lovers. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the National Book Trust host the festival under the “Vanche Gujarat 2.0” banner.

All visitors can register online at no cost and enjoy a wide range of literary talks, workshops, and cultural shows. The festival aims to put Ahmedabad on the global literary map while giving students a platform to spark creativity and learning.
