India’s Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW), along with its central government hospitals, offices, and related bodies, is gearing up for Special Campaign 5.0. This cleanliness drive kicks off today, October 2, and runs through October 31, 2025. The goal? To build a culture of swachhata—cleanliness—in government spaces while tackling backlogs to make things run smoother.

Led by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the campaign focuses on boosting efficiency, simplifying processes, and putting citizens first in governance. DoHFW has big plans in place to hit these targets and create a more responsive system.

For the cleanliness push, teams have pinpointed 1,454 sites across facilities for a thorough cleanup. This will help foster organized, hygienic workplaces. They’re also zeroing in on e-waste and outdated items for disposal, which could bring in some revenue and free up valuable office space.

To cut down on delays, DoHFW aims to quickly resolve a batch of public grievances and related appeals. This step underscores their promise of transparent, accountable governance.

On the paperwork front, officials will review 15,494 physical files and 3,279 digital ones. Plus, they’ll simplify 11 rules and processes to eliminate red tape and make government services easier to access.

Overall, DoHFW is doubling down on efficient administration, quick responses to needs, and services that truly serve people. This campaign highlights India’s ongoing efforts to modernize public health operations through better organization and waste management.
