Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has a clear message for Indian politics: swap endless fault-finding for real constructive criticism, and India could become a developed nation way ahead of the 2047 target. He shared these thoughts during a special event in New Delhi, celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.
The occasion was the National Conference and Book Release, hosted by the Narendra Modi Study Centre at the India International Centre. The event focused on PM Modi’s vision for a stronger India through smart governance, open discussions, and everyone’s role in building a better society. The big theme? “Viksit Bharat@2047: Roadmap for Inclusive Development, Social Justice, and Sustainable Growth.”
As the chief guest, Governor Shukla congratulated PM Modi on his milestone birthday and wished him good health for years to come. He praised the Prime Minister’s leadership over the past 11 years, saying it’s not just about policies—it’s about real changes that touch everyday lives. From pushing self-reliance and innovation to boosting social justice, women’s empowerment, clean energy, and global teamwork, these steps will inspire future generations, the Governor added.
Shukla also highlighted the GST Council’s teamwork spirit. Even as Parliament faced disruptions, the council kept moving forward with unanimous decisions on tax reforms. “This shows the true essence of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” he said, referring to the unity-in-diversity motto.
One standout success story he mentioned was the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This scheme opened bank accounts for millions, even with zero balance, bringing banking right to people’s doorsteps. In just one year, deposits hit nearly ₹56,000 crore, proving PM Modi’s drive for a corruption-free system is paying off big time.
Inspired by the PM’s vision, Governor Shukla launched the Drug-Free Himachal campaign in his state. Now, it’s a hot topic in almost every village panchayat, stressing how keeping Himachal drug-free is key to its bright future.
The event wrapped up with the release of seven new books on PM Modi’s life and achievements, all unveiled by the Governor. Former Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi shared his views too. Professor Jaseem Mohammad, the programme convener, welcomed everyone, while Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar (Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Haryana), author Basan Goyal (President of Sarvarth Seva Foundation), and other key figures joined in.
This gathering truly captured the excitement around Viksit Bharat 2047 and PM Modi’s lasting impact on India’s growth journey.
