Delhi’s weather is taking a welcome turn with light rain in the forecast, bringing some relief after scorching hot days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a yellow alert for Delhi NCR, expecting scattered showers over the next two to three days.
IMD scientist Naresh Kumar shared that Delhi NCR has seen light rainfall over the past couple of days, and more is on the way. “We’ve issued a yellow alert for the region, with very light rain likely tomorrow,” he told . He also noted that light to moderate rain could continue across northwest India for the next two days, keeping things cooler in spots like Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
The city just dealt with a sudden weather shift on Tuesday, complete with gusty winds and downpours that caused waterlogging in low-lying areas. This led to major traffic snarls, frustrating commuters during rush hour. But on the bright side, the rain offered a much-needed break from Delhi’s recent heatwave.
Airlines quickly responded with travel tips for passengers. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport posted an advisory: “Thanks to IMD’s forecast of inclement weather, our teams are teaming up with partners to keep your trip smooth. Check with your airline for the latest flight updates.”
Looking ahead, IMD predicts rain in Delhi and nearby spots, including Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, and other parts of Haryana like Jhajjar, Rewari, and Nuh. In Uttar Pradesh, areas such as Khatauli and Sakoti Tanda could see showers too. If you’re heading out, grab an umbrella and stay tuned to IMD updates for Delhi weather forecasts.
