The Indian Army put its homegrown drones through a tough workout during a joint exercise called Vayu Samanvay at the Field Firing Range in Naraingarh, near Chandigarh in Haryana, on Monday. This two-sided drill aimed to check how well these indigenous drones perform in a challenging electronic warfare setup, where enemy signals try to jam them.
Organized by the Western Command, the exercise showed off the Army’s skills in using unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for tactical attacks. Troops successfully hit targets, secured key goals, and even tested counter-drone defenses in a messy battlefield simulation. It proved the Army’s readiness to adapt and innovate amid fast-changing threats.
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the head of Western Command, watched the action and praised the soldiers for their sharp professionalism and tech-savvy approach. “Drones will play a huge role in future wars across all fronts,” he said. He pushed for ongoing tweaks to training drills and smarter ways to deploy these flying machines.
Katiyar also highlighted the need to build strong counter-drone systems to fight back against enemy UAVs. He pointed to their success in Operation Sindoor, where the Indian Army knocked out hostile aerial threats with ease.
The event featured a lineup of advanced drones from Indian companies, spotlighting the country’s push for self-reliance in unmanned tech. From cutting-edge models to proven performers, it showcased India’s growing edge in drone innovation.
Overall, Vayu Samanvay highlighted the Indian Army’s top-notch training, teamwork, and prep for tomorrow’s battles. It sends a clear message: the forces stand firm in protecting national security with smart, flexible strategies.
