New Delhi, Nov 25 (LatestNewsX) — In the July‑September 2025 period, India’s unincorporated non‑agricultural businesses saw a solid rise in both the number of firms and total jobs, even as worldwide economic challenges persisted, the Ministry of Statistics announced on Tuesday.
Establishments in this sector climbed to 7.97 crore, up from 7.34 crore a year earlier and also above the 7.94 crore recorded in the previous April‑June quarter.
Employment in incorporated non‑agricultural firms also grew, reaching roughly 12.86 crore workers—an increase from just over 12 crore in the same timeframe last year.
Internet use among these companies rose steadily, from 36 % in April‑June 2025 to 39 % in July‑September 2025.
In the unincorporated sector, 13.41 % of firms employed hired staff, a slight bump from the previous quarter.
Owner‑operators still dominated the workforce, accounting for 59.98 % of jobs in July‑September 2025, just like earlier quarters. However, the share of hired workers rose a bit, from 24.38 % in April‑June to 25.91 % in this quarter.
Urban employment also grew, with the workforce increasing from 6.61 crore in the last quarter to 6.91 crore, indicating stronger job creation and economic momentum in cities.
The unincorporated manufacturing sector rebounded, with both firm numbers and employment improving over the last quarter. The sector’s share of total establishments rose from 26 % to 27 %, while its share of jobs climbed from 26 % to 28 %.
Women’s participation remained strong, making up 28.7 % of all jobs in the sector, the report added.
