BJP leader Agnimitra Paul slammed opposition figures Rahul Gandhi and Abhishek Banerjee on Monday for staying silent after India’s thrilling Asia Cup victory over Pakistan. The Congress MP and TMC chief didn’t post a single tweet or comment celebrating the win, Paul pointed out. She suggested the result hit them hard, especially since both had opposed the India-Pakistan match, arguing “blood and water can’t mix.”
Paul highlighted how Prime Minister Narendra Modi jumped in with praise. Modi tweeted: “#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same—India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.” He celebrated Team India’s dominance, whether on the battlefield or the cricket pitch.
India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav couldn’t hide his excitement about the team’s sweep. “Winning 3-0 was excellent,” he told Revsportz host Boria Majumdar. “Incredible show from the boys—they delivered exactly what I expected. All our team talks in this very room paid off. I’m thrilled. We never played them three times in one tournament before; it was meant to be.”
The Asia Cup final in Dubai delivered edge-of-your-seat action. India bowled first and turned the game around dramatically. Pakistan looked solid at 113-1, but Indian spinners struck back. Kuldeep Yadav grabbed four wickets for 30 runs, while Axar Patel took two for 26 and Varun Chakravarthy claimed two for 30. They bundled Pakistan out for just 146.
Chasing the target, India stumbled early, slipping to 20-3 after Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf fired early wickets. But Tilak Varma stole the show with a fiery 69 off 53 balls—three fours and four sixes kept the crowd roaring. He teamed up with Sanju Samson for a key 57-run stand; Samson smashed 24 off 21 with two fours and a six. Shivam Dube then accelerated with 33 off 22, adding two fours and two sixes to push India closer.
In a fairy-tale finish, debutant Rinku Singh faced his first ball in the Asia Cup and smashed the winning runs. India sealed a five-wicket victory at Dubai International Stadium, lifting the Asia Cup trophy for a record ninth time. What a way to cap off the tournament!
