A significant turning point surfaced in the TADA court in Jammu as officials reported that a key eyewitness has named Yasin Malik as the primary shooter in the 1990 incident that killed four Indian Air Force officers in Rawalpora, Srinagar. “The identification was made before a special TADA court in Jammu, where Malik is on trial for the attack that killed four IAF personnel and injured several others in Rawalpora Srinagar, on January 25, 1990. The witness, an IAF personnel and a colleague of the victims, confirmed Malik’s role in the attack, which is a major breakthrough in the 35‑year‑old case,” the authorities said. Malik, already serving a life sentence for terror‑financing, also faces charges for the 1989 kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of former Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. During the recent hearing, two witnesses unmistakably identified Malik and three of his alleged accomplices—Javed Mir, Muhammad Rafiq Pahloo alias Saleem Nana Ji, and Shaukat Bakshi—before the judge. Malik joined the session via video link, and the witnesses reiterated their identifications during cross‑examination. An additional Air Force colleague testified that Malik fired the shots that caused the four fatalities, including Squadron Leader Ravi Kumar Khanna, while wounding 22 others. The witnesses upheld their statements under scrutiny. The following hearing is scheduled for November 29, and the prosecution is pursuing the maximum penalty.
