New Delhi, India – In a landmark gathering at the International Bharat6G Symposium 2025, which ran alongside the India Mobile Congress, dozens of global 6G research groups announced a joint statement that sets out a common roadmap for the next‑generation network.

The partners – including Bharat 6G, 6G‑IA, ATIS Next G, XGMF, 6G Forum, 6G Brazil, UK I‑Tech, UK Federated Telecoms Hubs, and the 6G Flagship – vowed to shape 6G as a public good that is safe, reliable, and open for everyone.

Key Principles

  • Trusted design – 6G must be built from the start to keep users secure and private. The declaration calls for risk‑mitigation tools and AI‑native safeguards that cover every part of the telecom life cycle.
  • Resilient and fail‑safe – Engineers need architectures that stay online even when parts fail. Privacy‑preserving systems will protect billions of devices worldwide.
  • Open and interoperable – The groups demand that new standards let equipment from different vendors work together. Open interfaces and AI‑powered network orchestration will speed innovation and lower costs.
  • Inclusive and affordable – 6G should reach all communities. The statement stresses that the network must be affordable, energy‑efficient, and repairable, with a clear focus on reducing its carbon footprint.
  • Sustainable coverage – The vision pulls together ground‑based towers, satellites, high‑altitude platforms, and future space‑based systems for seamless global access across land, sea, air, and space.

Building Talent for Tomorrow

The partners also highlighted a pressing need for skills development. They pledged to push forward talent pipelines in hardware, software, and network standards so that engineers can design, deploy, and secure the next wave of 6G systems.

A Call to Action

In closing, the breakout statement urges governments, industry, universities, and civil society worldwide to align with these shared principles. By rooting 6G in security, openness, resilience, inclusivity, affordability, sustainability, and trust, the groups say they aim to lift societies, boost digital economies, and leave no one behind.

The declaration from the International Bharat6G Symposium marks a unified global step toward making 6G an intelligent, trustworthy, and inclusive network that serves everyone.
